Personal Google Drive backup utility

Hermes connects an account owner's backup automation to their own Google Drive. It supports uploading owner-selected backup archives, verifying uploaded and downloaded data with cryptographic checksums, and performing restoration tests.

This is a private, owner-operated integration, not a public storage or file-sharing service. This website provides application information only. It has no sign-in form, account registration, file browser or access to stored backups.

Google Drive permission

The integration requests only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This allows access to files created by this application or explicitly opened/shared with it. It does not request unrestricted access to the account's entire Drive.

The application creates its own private backup folder. Within its authorized scope, it can upload, download, inspect metadata and delete its own test or backup objects when authorized by the operator. Sharing files publicly is not part of the backup workflow.

Data protection

Archives containing private data must be encrypted before upload, and the owner must keep recovery material separately. OAuth credentials stay on the owner-controlled server, protected at rest. Passwords and Google verification codes are entered only on Google's own pages.

The integration is being prepared for production use. Initial connectivity and encrypted restoration checks use generated test data; real archive uploads are gated on the owner's recovery-key setup.
